2026 - Construction Work
During the 2026 construction season (April through November), Providence Water is performing water main rehabilitation and road restoration in the areas below. This work may disrupt normal traffic and may require temporary bypass piping and water service connections for customers.
These projects are part of Providence Water's Infrastructure Rehabilitation Program (IFR) to reinvest in our system to continue to provide reliable, safe, and clean drinking water to our customers. Our IFR program includes replacing and rehabilitating aging infrastructure, replacing lead service lines, rehabilitating water mains, and installing new water mains to improve our water distribution system.

Cranston – Edgewood Area
Work in the Edgewood area of Cranston includes the completion of road restoration work for areas where water mains were rehabilitated in past years. Providence Water’s road restoration work in this area will commence following the completion of work currently being performed by Rhode Island Energy.
Providence – Charles Street Area
Work in the Charles Street area of Providence includes road restoration work for areas where water mains were rehabilitated in past years. Providence Water’s road restoration work in this area will commence following the completion of work currently being performed by Rhode Island Energy.
Providence – Trinity Square Area
Work in the Trinity Square area of Providence includes road restoration work for areas where water mains were rehabilitated in past years. Some of Providence Water’s road restoration work in this area is pending completion of ongoing work being performed by Rhode Island Energy. All work by Providence Water in this area is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
Providence – Lower South Providence Area
Work in the Lower South Providence area includes water main rehabilitation work, which is anticipated to continue in spring 2026 and be completed in 2027.
